Matchday Champions, blending the thrill of football with the strategic depth of a trading card game, requires a motion design that complements both these aspects. To achieve this, we’ve crafted a motion language that captures the heart of the sport while making every interaction a joy for players.
In the end, the essence of a great mobile game lies not just in its gameplay but also in its ability to visually and interactively engage the player.
Each animation has been carefully crafted to bring moments of delight, guiding users through the interface while maintaining the game’s playful and football-centric tone. From the satisfying feedback of completing a challenge to the subtle motions in navigating the squad selection, these micro interactions make every tap feel intuitive and rewarding.
We’ve aimed to create a fluid experience that not only looks sleek but also amplifies the emotional connection players have with the game. Every detail —whether it’s claiming rewards, upgrading cards, or tapping the play button— has been animated to immerse players and make Matchday Champions feel as responsive as a real match.
From a qualitative perspective, we’ve managed to create a cohesive visual style across the game while streamlining the production process. We’ve also crafted videos for UA campaigns that have helped reach out to new audiences, thus meeting Matchday’s marketing goals.
As for quantifiable results, the game has ranked #1 on UK’s Sports App Store chart.
